Finav

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

Finav LLC, a California limited liability company ("Finav," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the Finav mobile application, finav.app, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, how long we retain it, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

Account and authentication information

We collect information such as your name, email address, authentication identifiers, account status, profile details and preferences when you create or use a Finav account.

Financial, household and location information

We collect financial information you enter or share, including income, expenses, bills, debts, balances, transactions, savings, financial goals and related circumstances. We may also collect your ZIP code, address and household information when you provide it for estimates or personalized guidance.

When you enter your address, the app offers to fill it in from your device location. If you choose that option and allow access at your device's permission prompt, the app reads your precise location once and sends those coordinates to Finav, which uses Google's mapping services to find the matching address. We request location only while you are using the app, only at the moment you tap the option, and we do not collect your location in the background or track your movements. You can always decline and type your address instead.

If you choose to connect a financial account through Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"), we may receive account names and types, balances, transaction details and identity information made available by your financial institution. Finav does not receive your financial-institution password.

By connecting a financial account, you grant Finav and Plaid the right, power and authority to act on your behalf to access and transmit your personal and financial information from the relevant financial institution. You agree that this information may be transferred to, stored and processed by Plaid in accordance with Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

Coach conversations and personalization

We collect messages and other information you submit to the Finav coach, the responses generated for you, feedback you provide, and related transcripts. We may create and store summaries and personalization memory so the coach can maintain useful context across sessions.

Subscription and purchase information

When you purchase a subscription, we receive limited information from Apple or Google Play, such as the product purchased, subscription status, transaction identifiers and purchase validation information. Finav does not receive your full payment card number.

Device, usage and security information

We may collect device and app information, operating-system information, device or installation identifiers, IP address, timestamps, features used, interactions, crash information and security or rate-limit events. This information may be pseudonymous, but we do not describe it as anonymous when it could be associated with a device or account.

Website, waitlist and affiliate information

If you join our waitlist or newsletter, we collect your email address and subscription choice. Our website analytics services process limited page-view, device and interaction information to help us understand how the site is used. If you view or follow an affiliate link, we may record the offer shown, link clicked, timestamp and related attribution information.

How We Collect Information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you enter it or contact us
  • From your device and use of the Service, including through security and analytics technologies
  • From your device's location, only when you ask the app to fill in your address and grant permission
  • From services you choose to connect, such as Plaid and your financial institution
  • From Apple or Google Play when you purchase or manage a subscription

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Create, authenticate and support your account
  • Provide financial education, personalized guidance, summaries and other Service features
  • Generate coach responses and preserve context across sessions
  • Connect and refresh financial-account information you request
  • Look up your address when you ask the app to use your device location
  • Validate and manage subscription access
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the Service, including preventing fraud and abuse
  • Communicate with you about your account, support requests, product updates and marketing you requested
  • Measure affiliate activity and website performance
  • Comply with law and protect legal rights

AI Processing

To generate responses, Finav sends your messages and relevant financial context to Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic is not permitted to use Finav's API inputs or outputs to train its models. Finav has disabled user feedback that would send full prompts and responses to Anthropic for model improvement and is not enrolled in Anthropic's Development Partner Program.

Under Finav's current Anthropic workspace settings, Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for safety and security purposes, subject to limited legal and policy-enforcement exceptions.
